Welcome to Andrews Internal Medicine

Andrews Internal Medicine is a three physician ambulatory and hospital practice in the mountains of far southwestern North Carolina. Founded in 1992 by Dr. Gary Roper, the practice serves residents of Cherokee, Graham, Macon and Clay counties, comprising a drawing population of around 25,000. Owing to the geographic isolation of the region, many patients with complex and serious illness are able to remain in Cherokee County for their care. In addition to ambulatory care, the practice also provides hospital care at nearby Murphy Medical Center, a JCAHO accredited Medical/Surgical Facility.

Andrews Internal Medicine employs three physicians, Dr. Gary W. Roper, MD, Dr. Thomas V. Clayton, MD and Dr. Laurence S. So, MD. as well as two physician assistants, Raylee Weaver and Lisa Sellers, who provide valuable acute services in addition to their own routine patients.

Gary W. Roper, M.D.
received his Bachelor of Arts and Doctor of Medicine from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Mose H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro, NC.
